AT&T customers affected by two massive data breaches in 2024 can now file claims to receive a share of a $177 million class-action settlement. The settlement, which received preliminary approval from a federal judge, covers two separate data incidents that compromised the personal information of millions of current and former AT&T account holders. The deadline to file a claim is November 18, 2025.
The first data breach, revealed in March 2024, exposed the personal details, including Social Security numbers and birth dates, of 73 million customers. The second incident, disclosed in July 2024, involved a hack of a third-party cloud platform that exposed call and text records for “nearly all” of AT&T’s wireless subscribers. As part of the settlement, a fund of $149 million has been allocated for the first breach and $28 million for the second.
Customers can receive compensation based on which breach they were affected by and whether they can document specific financial losses. Those impacted by the first breach may claim up to $5,000 for documented losses, while those affected by the second can claim up to $2,500. Customers who were affected by both breaches may be eligible for a combined total of up to $7,500. For those without documented losses, payments will be distributed on a pro-rata basis from the remaining funds.
To file a claim, eligible individuals can visit the official settlement website managed by Kroll Settlement Administration or mail in a claim form. Notifications are being sent to class members via email, but customers who did not receive one can still check their eligibility and file a claim. The settlement still requires final court approval, which is scheduled for a hearing on December 3, 2025.
