Kelly Clarkson Postpones Vegas Residency, Reveals Ex-Husband Brandon Blackstock Is “Ill”

Kelly Clarkson has postponed the remainder of her August Las Vegas residency shows, citing a need to be with her children as their father, Brandon Blackstock, battles an unspecified illness. Clarkson made the announcement via a post on her social media on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

In a candid Instagram post, the singer-songwriter shared with her fans, “Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas. While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children’s father has been ill and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them.”

The statement comes after Clarkson had canceled the first two shows of her residency in early July, initially citing vocal strain from preparations and rehearsals. A source at the time hinted that the singer was facing “serious hidden battles” that few were aware of. Clarkson’s latest announcement confirms that her ex-husband’s health is the reason for the postponements.

Clarkson and Blackstock, who were married for seven years before their split in June 2020, share two children: daughter River Rose, 10, and son Remington Alexander, 8. Despite a contentious and highly-publicized divorce that was finalized in 2022, Clarkson’s statement underscores her commitment to co-parenting and supporting her children during this difficult time.

He was ordered by a California labor commissioner to repay Clarkson over $2.6 million in commissions for unlawfully procured business deals while he was her manager. Blackstock and his management company have since denied the allegations in a new lawsuit filed by Clarkson.

Clarkson concluded her post by apologizing to her fans, adding, “I am sincerely sorry to everyone who bought tickets to the shows and I so appreciate your grace, kindness and understanding.” A representative for Blackstock has not yet responded to requests for comment regarding his condition.
