FX’s New Series Alien: Earth Premieres with Two-Episode Debut

The highly anticipated television series Alien: Earth, an expansion of the iconic sci-fi horror franchise, has officially premiered. The first two episodes of the eight-episode season debuted on Tuesday, August 12, on FX and Hulu in the United States, with a weekly release schedule to follow.

The series, created by showrunner Noah Hawley, is a prequel to the original 1979 film, set two years prior in 2120. It delves into a futuristic Earth where powerful corporations, including Weyland-Yutani, vie for control. The show’s central plot revolves around a deep-space research vessel, the USCSS Maginot, crashing on Earth, leading to an encounter with the franchise’s terrifying creatures. A key narrative thread involves new synthetic beings—humanoid robots infused with human consciousness—and their evolution as they confront the alien threat.

Alien: Earth features an international cast led by Sydney Chandler, with supporting roles from Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, and Adarsh Gourav. The series will continue with weekly episodes, with the season finale scheduled for September 23. International viewers can stream the show on Disney+.
