Google is rolling out an update to its Google Photos app, integrating its latest AI model, Veo 3, to enhance the app’s image-to-video capabilities. The new feature, available in a redesigned “Create” tab, allows users to transform still images into short, four-second video clips.
This upgrade replaces the previous Veo 2 model, promising higher-quality results with more natural and realistic motion. Users can access the feature by selecting “Photo to video” and choosing from two prompts: “Subtle movement” for slight animations or “I’m feeling lucky” for more dynamic and creative effects. While the new clips are shorter and do not include sound, they offer a new way for everyday users to experiment with Google’s advanced video generation technology.
The new Veo 3 functionality in Google Photos is available to all users with a limited number of free generations per day. Subscribers to Google’s AI Pro and AI Ultra plans will have access to a higher number of daily generations. The rollout is beginning in the U.S., with plans for wider availability.
