According to a BBC report on September 13, following the entry of more than ten drones into Polish airspace on the 10th, several NATO countries will deploy troops and fighter jets to NATO’s eastern flank. The report states that Denmark, France, and Germany have already taken action by deploying military aircraft to strengthen NATO’s eastern flank. Other NATO member countries are expected to follow suit.
The Danish Ministry of Defense announced that Denmark will deploy two F-16 fighter jets and one warship to support Poland’s air defense. Danish Prime Minister Frederiksen stated: “We cannot be too naive. The Russians are testing us. Therefore, it is crucial… Denmark is contributing to this.”
The French Ministry of Defense has stated that it will deploy three Rafale fighter jets. Germany has also committed to deploying four Eurofighter Typhoon fighter jets. The UK Ministry of Defense said in a statement that the UK is “fully committed” to helping strengthen the “Eastern Sentinel” operation, adding that more details will be provided soon.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte announced on the 12th that NATO had launched an operation code-named “Eastern Sentinel” on the same day to strengthen the defense of Europe’s eastern flank.
