Netanyahu apologizes for Qatar attack

On September 29 local time, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu, Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Mohammed, and U.S. President Trump held a three-way telephone conference that day. In the talks, Netanyahu apologized to the Qatari side for Israel’s recent attack on Qatari capital Doha, violation of Qatari sovereignty, and the death of a Qatari security force member, and pledged not to launch similar actions against Qatar in the future.

Regarding this call, the White House stated that the leaders accepted Trump’s proposal to establish a trilateral mechanism, discussed proposals to end the Gaza conflict, and looked forward to a more secure Middle East.

The United States reiterated its firm commitment to the U.S.-Qatar defense partnership in the talks. Mohammed emphasized in the talks that Qatar firmly opposes any violation of its sovereignty. He also stated that Qatar will continue to adhere to the country’s long-standing foreign policy of resolving regional crises through diplomatic means, and is committed to ending the conflict in the Gaza Strip as soon as possible to maintain regional security and stability.
