According to a report by ABC on October 11, two U.S. officials stated that U.S. troops have begun arriving in Israel to establish a joint coordination center to supervise the implementation of the Gaza ceasefire agreement. The officials mentioned that U.S. troops will not enter the Gaza Strip.
One of the U.S. officials stated that the 200 soldiers deployed to Israel are specialized in transportation, planning, logistics, security, and engineering. They will work alongside representatives from partner countries, the private sector, and non-governmental organizations. The coordination center is considered the first step in helping to implement the peace process in the Gaza Strip.
According to sources, the troops sent to Israel to establish the military coordination center are arriving this weekend, having been airlifted from the U.S. mainland and the Middle East region. U.S. officials stated that U.S. Central Command Commander Admiral Brad Cooper was in Israel on October 10. Cooper said on the 11th that the United States will not deploy ground troops to the Palestinian Gaza Strip.
