An American woman from Michigan said she used a chatbot named ChatGPT to generate a set of numbers and won a $100,000 prize in the PowerBall.
According to CBS News, the Michigan Lottery revealed that 45-year-old resident Tammy Carvey won a $50,000 prize on September 6th, and she chose PowerPlay when purchasing the ticket, which doubled the prize to $100,000.
Carvey said she decided to let ChatGPT generate numbers and buy the lottery online when the PowerBall jackpot surpassed $1 billion.
” When I checked the winning numbers, I realized I matched four white balls and the PowerBall number, and at that moment I knew I had won.”
She said in a press release from the Michigan Lottery, “Google told me this was a $50,000 prize, so I thought I had won that. It was only after logging into the Michigan Lottery account that I realized I had added the PowerBall add-on PowerPlay, and actually won $100,000. Me and my husband couldn’t believe it.”
The Michigan Lottery said Carvey recently collected the prize at the headquarters and plans to use the money to pay off her mortgage.
