Trump defamation case, and Trump still needs to pay $83.3 million in damages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2019, female writer Carroll accused Trump of sexual assault against her in the 1990s. Trump denied and publicly called her accusation a &#8220;hoax,&#8221; leading to a defamation lawsuit. In January 2024, a New York federal jury ruled in the case and ordered Trump to pay Carroll $83.3 million in damages.
