A mass shooting in Baltimore’s Park Heights neighborhood on Saturday night left six people injured, including a 5-year-old girl, according to police. The incident, which occurred near the intersection of Spaulding and Queensberry Avenues, is currently under investigation, with no arrests yet made.
The Baltimore Police Department (BPD) confirmed that officers were dispatched to the scene around 8:46 p.m. after receiving reports of a shooting. Police Commissioner Richard Worley stated that the victims, who ranged in age from 5 to 52, had been gathered outside, some reportedly eating crabs on a porch, when a suspect opened fire.
Among the six victims—four men and two women—one 38-year-old man was critically injured and underwent surgery. Due to the severity of his injuries, homicide detectives have been called to the scene. The 5-year-old girl was shot in the hand but is expected to recover, while the other victims sustained non-life-threatening injuries. Police have described the event as a “targeted” incident but have not yet identified a specific target. Authorities have closed several streets in the area and are urging the public to avoid the vicinity as the investigation continues.
Police are actively seeking information and witnesses, with Commissioner Worley noting that detectives are working to piece together the details of the “very expansive crime scene.” The BPD is asking anyone with information to contact them directly or through the Metro Crime Stoppers tip line, where callers can remain anonymous.
