Hong Kong Ranks Fourth Globally and First in Asia in 2025 World Talent Ranking

On September 9, in the 2025 World Talent Ranking released by the International Institute for Management Development (IMD) in Lausanne, Switzerland, Hong Kong rose to fourth place globally and ranked first in Asia. This is Hong Kong’s highest ranking in history.

Hong Kong improved in all three factors of talent competitiveness, with “attractiveness” rising to 20th place, while “readiness” and “investment and development” rankings rose to third and twelfth places respectively. Some indicators show that Hong Kong continues to rank first globally in the proportion of science and technology graduates, financial skills ranking rose to third place, and both management compensation and the effectiveness of management education ranked fifth.

A spokesperson for the HKSAR Government said that the results confirm the effectiveness of Hong Kong’s policies in education, innovation, technology, and talent introduction. The spokesperson emphasized that Hong Kong has a highly internationalized and diversified higher education system, with 5 of its universities ranked among the top 100 in the world. The HKSAR Government is committed to making Hong Kong a destination for learning, continuously investing in education, and supporting institutional reforms to attract and cultivate talent.

The spokesperson said that as of the end of August this year, various talent introduction schemes have received more than 520,000 applications, of which more than 350,000 have been approved.
