Actor Dean Cain to be Sworn in as ‘Honorary’ ICE Officer

Dean Cain, the actor best known for his role as Superman in the 1990s television series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman, has announced he will be joining the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agency. The move comes as the agency intensifies its hiring efforts following a new congressional spending bill.

During an appearance on Fox News’s Jesse Watters Primetime, Cain stated, “I will be sworn in as an ICE agent, ASAP.” The announcement followed a recruitment video he posted on social media, where he encouraged former law enforcement officers and other patriots to consider joining the agency. A spokesperson for the Department of Homeland Security, Assistant Secretary Tricia McLaughlin, confirmed that Cain will be sworn in as an “honorary ICE Officer” in the coming month, though the specific duties of this role were not immediately clear.

Cain, who is already a sworn deputy sheriff and a reserve police officer, has been an outspoken supporter of President Donald Trump. He cited his belief that the country’s immigration system is “broken” and that the President is delivering on a campaign promise. His decision has drawn a mixed response, with some praising his patriotism and others expressing disappointment, particularly in light of the Trump administration’s stepped-up immigration enforcement actions and ongoing criticism from civil rights groups.

The agency’s recruitment drive, which Cain has supported, seeks to hire 10,000 new agents. In a move to attract more applicants, the Department of Homeland Security has also announced the removal of age limits for new hires, which were previously capped at 37 years old. The agency has reportedly received more than 80,000 applications for these openings.
